Top Law Schools

This is more of a "request for opinion"

Is it in poor taste to communicate with the Admissions committee? What I mean by that is, email them questions, connect with them on LinkedIn? I guess, I am just curious if it can be misinterpreted in any way. I certainly do want to stand out, and show a eagerness to be admitted, but not if it is in poor taste to do so.

I recommend looking up where the admissions people for the schools you're applying to live and showing up at their front door unannounced, preferably while wearing nothing but a fur coat and high heels

If the above is cost-prohibitive for you, just send 'm some dick pics or beavershots on their private email/phone number

In that case, from where I am sitting, sounds as though you can put your time to greater usage, instead of sarcastically entertaining yourself on law school forms.

Seriously though OP: don't contact the AdComm. They are busy people, they have staff who can answer questions, they can easily detect questions-just-for-strivings-sake, and they are more likely to remember anything negative than positive. Just maximize your numbers (GPA and LSAT) and play it cool with the extra-credit side-hustling unless you have some serious personal connections.

Kinda rude there...Shouldn't you be working on your LSAT timing rather than asking stupid questions on law school forums?

They're not Delphic oracles who need to be protected from the world, so it's not off limits to contact them, but they're also very busy people in the throes of application season. If you have an actual legitimate question that you need an adcomm to answer, then email or call. Otherwise, don't. Do NOT connect with them on LinkedIn. Think about how many people apply to a given law school every year and whether, if you were an adcomm, you'd want each of those applicants to connect with you on LinkedIn.

I'm a 0L, but I have worked in an admissions office for four years (An undergraduate office, take what I say still with a grain of salt)

My two cents is that this would be a very bad, unwise thing for you to do. It shows the admissions counselor you don't understand boundaries, which is a testament to your character. Also suggests you're not professional, etc. I've seen applicants with good numbers that have been too aggressive with adcomms before and they've been waitlisted/denied because of it.

Showing interest in a school sometimes makes or break offers, I see understand you wanting to show your interest. Ultimately adcomms want you to deposit, increase their yield rate, pay their salary/dinner, etc. However, there's better ways of showing interest than talking to committee members (who's role in the admissions office is usually more secretive than actual adcomms). Just write a really amazing Why X essay and it'll do what you want.

Yes, I have actual questions, and viewed email as an appropriate form of contact. I see your point on connecting on LinkedIn, I come from a "networking" background, and those efforts are usually my go to.

Assuming you mean connecting on LinkedIn as an aggressive move? Or emailing questions? I am not just randomly emailing them about their day, I am honestly asking questions on the sole purpose of my application. I just didn't know if it was a more appropriate measure to send a general email to an open box or to make it personal & reach out to the Adcomm, I had contact information for (she gave me her business card). As mentioned, I want to stand out certainly, but not in an aggressive, unprofessional manner.

Okay hmm that is a bit different. No linkedin under any circumstance (but that's already discussed). There's a small but important difference between adcomms and committee members. If you have a questions regarding your application, contacting an adcomm is perfectly fine, especially if she gave you your card.

No, I don't understand how bad of an idea it is, thus prompting the question for others to weigh in their thoughts and ideas. Glad, I did inquire!

No its not Harvard or American, but it is my first choice.

Only contact if you have a legitimate question (like maybe once in the application cycle). Can not overemphasize how weird a LinkedIn request from a prospective student would be.
