did you contact the school before and let them know what you were doing?lymenheimer wrote:Submitted after "deadline". Was accepted with decent scholly. Not T14, but strong T1 regional.loomy78 wrote:Taking the February LSAT and submitting an app last minute? less/no scholly $, but did you get in?
No. I didn't even take the feb LSAT. I just applied super late (March/April) because I was dumb last cycle.loomy78 wrote:did you contact the school before and let them know what you were doing?lymenheimer wrote:Submitted after "deadline". Loomy is the OP...hthpersonofinterest wrote:As Cleary and loomy78 show, you may not get great results. As long as you can afford (financially and time-wise) to send out applications, it is unlikely to hurt you. You should also email the admissions department to let them know you are (re)taking the LSAT in February. As Cleary and loomy warn, you should not accept a lesser outcome than you could get by waiting until the next cycle. If you get a good outcome though, there is no point in waiting. TLS and mylsn can help you judge if the outcome is good enough. Also, don't forget to negotiate scholarships!

if i could hit 170, i should get into HYSCCN. that's the goal here. Money is nice, but I'm also older (26) and have a dead end job that I'm not happy at and can't save any money from doing. So taking another year to start law school kind of blows, for a number of different reasons. At this point, I'd be inclined to take HYSCCN at stickerdwyf wrote:Submitted on deadline. did you submit on deadline without an LSAT score?dwyf wrote:Submitted on deadline. A number of t14 acceptances. No money anywhere inspite of 175+.
Nah, had the LSAT score in my back pocket for multiple years. I had alternate plan that fell apart, and I scrambled to line something up for the following year.loomy78 wrote:did you submit on deadline without an LSAT score?dwyf wrote:Submitted on deadline. Not taking the LSAT, not attending law school, lol.dwyf wrote:Nah, had the LSAT score in my back pocket for multiple years. What'd you end up doing?
26 is still young and it's way better to spend a year at a dead end job than it is to come out the other side of the law game with 6 figures in debt. In other words, your reasons aren't good enough to justify sticker.loomy78 wrote:if i could hit 170, i should get into HYSCCN. that's the goal here. I make ~80k i just hate it. i will probably make 100k by 30 or so. so not dead-end per say. im hoping i can transition to something else after a few yearsHuntedUnicorn wrote:26 is still young and it's way better to spend a year at a dead end job than it is to come out the other side of the law game with 6 figures in debt. yeah my advice was assuming you were making like 20-40k/year. Definitely stay put if you're making 80k. Finishing law school with no debt is a game changer and will give you so much more flexibility with what you can do down the road.loomy78 wrote:I make ~80k i just hate it. i will probably make 100k by 30 or so. so not dead-end per say. im hoping i can transition to something else after a few yearsHuntedUnicorn wrote:26 is still young and it's way better to spend a year at a dead end job than it is to come out the other side of the law game with 6 figures in debt. ditto, ended up with a solid scholarship at CCNpersonofinterest wrote:I think it's a good idea to apply (but also to proceed with caution). You do risk getting less of a scholarship, but you may also get a scholarship comparable to similar candidates who applied early. I suggest you apply in February, but be prepared to not attend law school next fall if you don't get an offer worthy of you GPA/LSAT combo. You can check mylsn.info to see how your scholarship compares to others with similar stats to decide if you should accept any offer for next for or wait to re-apply next cycle. Good luck on the LSAT!
ETA: Anecdotal, but I applied in February and ended up with as good of a scholarship as anyone else with comparable numbers. ymmv, but worth applying IMHO.
