Taking the February LSAT and submitting an app last minute? less/no scholly $, but did you get in?

It happens if you're a solid applicant. But it's still a bad move, if you're good enough to get in in March, you would have gotten money or a better school the next go round.

Submitted after "deadline". Was accepted with decent scholly. Not T14, but strong T1 regional.

did you contact the school before and let them know what you were doing?

Seriously, just wait and apply. There are thousands of people here that have been through it. I got into a T14 with a March application, even still, I declined, and reapplied and still moved up a solid "tier". You say "less/no scholly" like its not a big deal, but even if that is the case, you're possibly turning down better schools because you're impatient, plus there are very few people that can honestly say 100,000+ is no big deal.

I think it's a good idea to apply (but also to proceed with caution). You do risk getting less of a scholarship, but you may also get a scholarship comparable to similar candidates who applied early. I suggest you apply in February, but be prepared to not attend law school next fall if you don't get an offer worthy of you GPA/LSAT combo. You can check mylsn.info to see how your scholarship compares to others with similar stats to decide if you should accept any offer for next for or wait to re-apply next cycle. Good luck on the LSAT!

ETA: Anecdotal, but I applied in February and ended up with as good of a scholarship as anyone else with comparable numbers. ymmv, but worth applying IMHO.

No. I didn't even take the feb LSAT. I just applied super late (March/April) because I was dumb last cycle.

Feb LSAT scores are released in March. Most school's deadlines are in mid-Februrary. OK to submit without the final LSAT score?

They'll evaluate you on your current score if you don't tell them to wait, it's up to them to decide if they'll wait past the deadline, but most will, even if just to deny you to lower their admission rate.

Seriously though, stop focusing on this idea, this is one of the biggest decisions of your life, crush the lsat, wait and apply early.

As Cleary and loomy78 show, you may not get great results. As long as you can afford (financially and time-wise) to send out applications, it is unlikely to hurt you. You should also email the admissions department to let them know you are (re)taking the LSAT in February. As Cleary and loomy warn, you should not accept a lesser outcome than you could get by waiting until the next cycle. If you get a good outcome though, there is no point in waiting. TLS and mylsn can help you judge if the outcome is good enough. Also, don't forget to negotiate scholarships!

if i could hit 170, i should get into HYSCCN. that's the goal here. Money is nice, but I'm also older (26) and have a dead end job that I'm not happy at and can't save any money from doing. So taking another year to start law school kind of blows, for a number of different reasons. At this point, I'd be inclined to take HYSCCN at sticker

Nah, had the LSAT score in my back pocket for multiple years. I had alternate plan that fell apart, and I scrambled to line something up for the following year.

What'd you end up doing?

Not taking the LSAT, not attending law school, lol.

26 is still young and it's way better to spend a year at a dead end job than it is to come out the other side of the law game with 6 figures in debt. In other words, your reasons aren't good enough to justify sticker.

I make ~80k i just hate it. i will probably make 100k by 30 or so. so not dead-end per say. im hoping i can transition to something else after a few years

yeah my advice was assuming you were making like 20-40k/year. Definitely stay put if you're making 80k. Finishing law school with no debt is a game changer and will give you so much more flexibility with what you can do down the road.

Just looked at the time stamps

Good call not going to law school

I think Spivey in one of his podcasts said that someone submitted an app in July and still got into a T6, and started LS the same September

He did mention that the guy had pretty insane numbers tho.

FWIW, I took the February test, applied the last possible day to my school (T1, strong regional), and received a full ride. My spouse was already in grad school here and we're planning to stay local, so I knew it was the only place I wanted to attend. I was 75% GPA, decently above 75% for LSAT, with some work experience. I got my offer letter right around the commitment deadline, so people were starting to turn down scholarships. I wouldn't recommend it - I know that I got stupid lucky - but yes, definitely possible.

Submitted January of last year after taking the gamble and deciding to submit after the December exam. Sucks to suck because I scored 1 point less than my October. I said "why not?" and threw in 20 applications.

Got waitlisted almost everywhere that I should've gotten into, and from those that did accept me, I got marginal money.

Reapplied this year in October and I got into half of the schools that waitlisted me last year so far and have been getting much more $$$$ at schools that gave me almost nothing last year. Oh, and I think I'm a lot more competitive at the schools that flatout rejected me last cycle (they invited me to interview this cycle and I've been surviving the waves of WL/Dings).

*Moral of the story* Wait a cycle if you can (if you have borderline numbers). You can literally save a hundred thousand dollars in scholarship, and will be a much more competitive applicant.

Does the advice in this thread apply to me too? I will ve 25 in the fall. 173/3.65 ... could have applied in September but I really hesistated way too long it seems. Submitted my first app (CCN) last week, transcript still on its way to LSAC via snail mail.
