Basically yes, but I think you're being too presumptive about even getting the NU ED admit. Frankly if you do get 150,000 to NU, I suggest you buy a nice coat and enjoy chicago!

You probably won't get the scholarship. They use it get people above both 75s and hopefully both medians. But I echo the thoughts that if you do enjoy it! With a nice coat winter isn't that bad.

You can't combine those things to suggest they give 150k to splitters on the basis that they admit splitters. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's far from a given. It just doesn't make sense for them to do so. Why would they give full rides to people, when they might be the best school to take them anyway. The point of the money ed is to lure hysccn people to nu, not to pay people that would end up at nu anyway.

Like I said, I'm not ruling it out, but I do think that based on the original post, you're overestimating it, and that's coming from one of the dots in the chart you just linked.

I mean, hey, you've posted 3,000+ times on TLS, you probably do know more than I do about this sort of stuff. Maybe MyLSN isn't a perfect resource, but that's what I've been using to gauge admissions chances, and the data on MyLSN seems to contradict what you posted. Here are the applicants on MyLSN from Northwestern ED over the last 2 cycles - http://mylsn.info/4hhmtc/

12 acceptances, 4 wait-lists, 5 rejections. And among those 12 acceptances, only 2 of them were at or above both Northwestern 75ths. Those same 2 were also the only applicants out of the 12 who were even at or above both Northwestern medians.

So unless there's something I'm missing (MyLSN selection bias.. significant change during this admissions cycle..) then I don't think it's presumptuous to say I statistically have a chance at it.
I don't think you're being presumptuous in holding out hope for an ED offer, but I do think you're reading the data a little loosely. While true, your statements about the successful ED candidates don't let on that the lowest GPA among them was a 3.48, which is a pretty far cry from a sub 3.0. Still, a 179 is worth a lot to adcomms, so maybe you have a shot. But in any event, if you're offered the scholly, I would definitely take it in a heartbeat.

True, but everyone accepted also had a significantly higher GPA than you. In fact, the lowest to be accepted with the ED scholarship (not Waitlisted-->Accepted, which I believe means they were rolled over to RD) had a 3.48, and they also scored a 179.

Also, what kind of work experience do you have? From what I've heard, a few years working is almost required at Northwestern, especially with that GPA.

Well yeah, LSN is for reference only, but if you have a 3.x GPA you have a realistic shot at T6, which also makes you an attractive candidate for NU ED program. Your 179 is impressive, but, as you know, the difference between 175 and 179 is pretty marginal.

On a side note, the haze in Beijing can get really horrible LOL. Working there is not as sought after even for Chinese as decades ago.. Just saying.

You are missing something: splitters who apply Northwestern ED are not rejected, but "held" and rolled over to the regular decision pool, where they are then admitted. In other words, it shows up as an acceptance on mylsn because they were accepted, but not accepted ED. (I am a splitter. This is what happened to me and every other splitter on TLS who applied to Northwestern ED my cycle).

People who are rolled over to RD are not waitlisted/were never waitlisted, so I don't think those people are marking WL on lsn. No one my cycle did, at least.
