Top Law Schools

This question is one of "a type," but I think it is unique enough to bear asking.

I have three bad first year grades, which are result of a run-in with the wrong crowd: Egyptology PhD students. Two year-long classes, Egyptian history and hieroglyphics, earned me grades in the range of B to B minus. By the end of these classes, I pulled up to A minuses, but it was rough. These classes were taken in the relevant graduate program, but count as undergrad classes.

My GPA is a 3.67, and my LSAT prep tests are hovering around 175. But I want to be competitive at top schools, and I'm wondering what people think. Would it be appropriate to either explain that these were advanced classes in the subject, or maybe to try and highlight that they were more of an intellectual exploration ? Or will this be self-evident?

Edit: sorry that's pretty abrasive but I'm gonna keep it there for posterity. Idk how 2 B-range grades warrant an "explanation". Especially if you were able to bring them up to A-range. It's not gonna help you be any more competitive as your gpa is still a 3.67.

Thanks I'll STFU. I know they're not like "bad grades," I just don't know how much scrutiny the top schools give to the transcript itself

Find the Spivey thread and I'm sure if it's not talked about there, then you can ask him yourself (he's a former admit dean). Pretty much gpa+LSAT though across the board.
