3.55 GPA here gunning for T-14.

I am in my fall semester of Senior year. I was wondering what the chances are that I get an acceptance with a conditional such as keeping my GPA above a certain point?
What if you get the acceptance and by then after the fall semester my GPA already fell below that? And how common is that in T-14 schools?

Also, what are the chances a school asks for my updated transcript before making a decision?

if you take the December LSAT they're probably going to ask for an updated transcript before admitting you.

Even if I complete and send my application on December 5th, way before I get my grades?

The LSAT scores should come in at the end of December. I'll get my fall grades in the beginning of January. So it's likely that they will ask for an updated transcript with the fall grades? Ugh...

You could always just say no.

So if they ask you for Fall 2015 grades you could just decline to do it?

There's no law saying you have to give them your transcripts, but it certainly wouldn't help your chances to be admitted.

Why would you submit before you get your score? That'd be a waste of money if you completely bombed it and didn't even hit medians/25ths.

Aren't all acceptances conditioned on you maintaining similar grades throughout UG? I'm pretty sure they are...

Never heard of a condition acceptance like that. No schools even asked for my fall grades after applying during Thanksgiving break, but that may not be the typical experience.

Because I'm not retaking. It's December for me then law school, I don't want to waste a year of my life on a gap year to be honest.


Well gents, I'll just hope I do good or that they won't ask me for them.
Plus, I feel like when your GPA is below the 25th already a small change won't matter.

You're approaching this all wrong. If your GPA is below the 25th they will be skeptical of you already. Moreover you will probably only get in as a splitter and will receive your acceptance late in the cycle. If at that point you still haven't provided them with an updated transcript, some eyebrows will be raised.

It is not you will be the only person with a above-median or above-75th percentile LSAT--you still need to beat out the other splitters.

Is it necessary to send them the updated transcript? Even if they don't ask? Does that really raise questions?

I would think that updating the transcript would prolong the process as they have to check back on the app again.

My assumption was that if my grades haven't went up then I leave the transcript as is without updating.

If you're a border candidate they just won't accept you until later on in the cycle when they have a better of their needs and where you fit into that whole picture. If you haven't sent a transcript by March then yes--there will be questions because anyone with an increasing GPA will send that update so it is only a question of going down .01 or .1 or more.

What I'm saying is, if you are "gunning for t14" and get a 150 on the LSAT, then you're wasting your money applying before your score comes out, before you know where you realistically stand.
