Yeah, only do this if you misspelled it as 'Harvard.'

If it makes you feel better they probably passed it around their office so that they could laugh at it before they dinged you.

If you don't want to deal with it, you can just go to standford law school instead

Just consider this a lesson to friggin proofread important emails in the future. I for some reason get 10% dumber when I write emails and end up making stupid mistakes, so I understand. But I've made enough of them so that I know to double check my emails before sending them.

If that makes you feel better, I misspelled my undergrad school name in an e-mail to a law school asking for fee waiver. My friends were like, LOLOLOLOLOL you must have bought a fake degree HAHAHAHAHA. I nearly wanted to jump off a building.

Thanks for all the advice! I most certainly will not write back pointing out the error, as ya'll have advised (and unfortunately I don't have the time to find and befriend a Bill Standford).

It's probably worse that you misspelled 'mispelled.'

Will apologize for "misspelled" (though on a forum that doesn't bother me so much), won't apologize for "ya'll" though! And you're right benwyatt. There's no excuse!
You don't have to apologize. But you are putting the apostrophe in the wrong place. The contraction shortens "you all." It is incorrect to separate the (a) from the (ll) - that makes no sense. It's y'all, not ya'll.

Oh, got it! I've never been corrected on that before, but will make sure to fix it in the future. Thanks!

It depends on the situation actually.

Y'all (short for "you all") is for small groups

Ya'll (short for "y'all all") is for large groups or to mean "everyone." In some regions "all y'all" is also used for this purpose.

Y'all all. New to me, but I like it.

Team all y'all.

I initially thought ya'll for you all is unequivocally wrong because not in any stage of English that I'm aware of were you allowed to break a normal word and insert an apostrophe. But then I realized if you take "ya" to mean "you" and contract "all" into "'ll", it does remotely make some sense.
