Yeah, you don't have much shot at YS. It looks like you have about a one in four shot at both Harvard and Chicago right now.

But then look at people who took ED, and you have better chances of admission. Applying ED, it looks like it's almost certain you'd get into Chicago - I don't think Harvard has ED, though.

This is ultimately something for you to consider. Applying RD, it looks like you have an outside chance - about 25% - of admission to Harvard or Chicago, but applying ED to Chicago almost guarantees you'll get in. ED will mean you get less scholarship $, but you already said that isn't a factor.

IF my goal was to get into HYSC, then I would apply ED to Chicago. It gives you your best chances of reaching your goal, of course. However, I think that Harvard is that much better than Chicago, so I myself - if I had your marks - would just apply RD.

But I'd suggest opening up your options. I get why people would be primarily interested in HYS, but I don't get the HYSC - I'd suggest applying RD and looking at other T14s like Columbia, but IF your main goal is just to get into HYSC, then yeah, applying ED to Chicago is your best choice. Though, again, I'd have to wonder why you'd be so set on Chicago. Do you want to practice there? Have regional ties, etc?

I prefer Chicago because of its small class size, relatively gargantuan fedclerk placement and diversity of placement as well (read, not just in NY).

I'd say you're overstating all of those factors

Mind if I ask why so against ED UChicago?

Oh OK, actually I'm not the poster, just curious because I'm also considering if I should ED UChicago. So am I right that you are against ED in general instead of ED UChicago in particular?

Because your numbers are strong enough that the idea of ED-ing is silly. You have little to gain and lots to lose.

A lot of it has to do with EDing generally locks you into paying sticker. Schools like NU offer you close to a full ride so EDing there isn't always the worst idea. Why pay more than you have to? You'll likely get in without an ED.
