State residency and undergrad college

tl;dr - do any law schools (namely state schools) give some level of preference for students from the state or who went to colleges in the state?
I heard that this was the case, but after looking at the stats it seems like only some schools give preference for applicants who live or study in state. When I once thought I'd maybe want to be a doctor, I found that there was an incredible preference given to students who were state residents, and some (lesser) preference given to students who studied in state without being residents. It was to such a degree that one school, which was far from a highly ranked med school, had an acceptance rates 9x higher for residents than non-residents.
Now obviously that level of preference doesn't exist for law schools anywhere. The closest I've seen is Texas, where I gather that they actually have laws limiting how many non-residents can study there. Do other schools seem to give preference to in state students?
