I agree that this seems best. I imagine it's okay to use an abbreviated name if 1. it's commonly or officially used and 2. you've already referred to the school by the full name.

Most schools use some kind of abbreviated/shortened form on their website. If shortening their name, go with whatever they use.

Also, in my Why Xs, I usually used the full name the first time and the last time I mention the school (which were also my first and last sentences).

I used the full name the first time I mentioned the school in the intro, the last time I mentioned the school in the conclusion, and abbreviated everywhere in between.

If you're worried, look at their website; or better, how admins refer to the school in emails.
