Take more classes to boost GPA?

Hi all, will be going into senior year of UG this fall. I currently have a 3.77.
So I did the calculations:
normal 15 credits per/semester, all A's, I will only end up with a 3.827 at best (at time of graduation).
However, if I max credit (18) per/semester, all A's, chance of 3.929
I have achieved a 3.95 semester before. Have been in the 3.77-79 range since end of sophomore year. Senior classes will be relatively easier.
My goal is NYU/Columbia. Realistically speaking, my gpa will probably end up in the 3-77-3.80 range (if nothing changes). I know that range is higher than median at both but to have a better chance of getting in should I think about doing 18 credits?
Maybe one semester of 18 credits?
ETA: math is wrong

Are you sure 6 more credits is going to move your gpa up by .102? That seems very unlikely, unless you're getting A+s

agree with the above, that seems like a big jump

Think your math is wrong. I don't see how an extra 6 credits of 4.0's can bump your GPA that much. It'd only be enough take your ~3.82x to a ~3.83x.

hahah...sorry about that.
btw, is the consensus that median is good enough for acceptance and 75% is good enough for scholly?

The consensus is put your best app forward and hope for the best. Every school is different in what they're looking for when they are making scholarship and admission decisions.

A 3.82 is 75th at Columbia. You're fine if you get a solid LSAT too.

You've got a shot at NYU/Columbia with a 3.78 assuming a LSAT that's within their range. Obviously try getting your GPA up a bit if you can, but it's solid.
