URM AA Male 3.4 GPA/176 LSAT to T14

Post by terrancem915 » Tue Jul 21, 2015 6:49 pm

African American Male. Business ED Major hoping to finish with a 3.4 GPA (I had a HORRIBLE freshman/sophomore year due to some medical issues, but I've been digging myself out of the pit). Took the LSAT in June and scored a 176, but I'm just interested in hearing some feedback as far as my chances at a T14.

Blanket the T14. With a 176 you might end up with one of YHS.

With a 3.4?

OP, I'd suggest checking out the URM section on this site. But you should have good chances across the T14, definitely with some money. Congrats on the stellar score.

It doesn't matter, OP is a black male with a 176. He could have a 3.0 and still get into H with that. I'd bet anything he will get Y/S too with a 3.4/176. I think he will get yield protected from any school below CCN too, I would only apply to T6 if I was him. should be a shoo-in for huge scholarships at CCN

^Well I would probably apply to more than just hysccn if I were op, depending on his geographic preferences.

But yeeeah he'll almost certainly get H and has a damn good shot at Y/S

True, he will prolly get fee waviers out the ass
I'm just saying schools like Michigan and UVA will assume OP will be going to a higher ranked school. A friend of mine who is an AA had a similar scenario, got full-rides at NYU/Columbia and Y, yet got rejected from Duke and Berkeley somehow.

If he doesn't get into at least 2/3 of HYS and a full ride to a few places, I'd be flat out shocked.
