I wrote a similar addendum. Go for it, but keep it short, like a paragraph with no sob story.

Real short addendum. A paragraph may even be a bit long, I'd think two sentences or so just to clarify why it was.

Personally I wouldn't bother.

Yeah, if you are writing it because you care about the outcome of your application or something, everybody here is going to tell you that those two or so sentences won't visibly impact it.

It's just a courtesy notice to AOs so they don't have to spend any time wondering, thinking about, and guessing what happened.

Two sentences sound right in your case.
