Many more than HYS but still not that high of a percentage. And even less of those people will strike out entirely.
Five of the lower T14s have BL+FC rates in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. And no it's not all self selection.
Looking at the schools outside of HYSCCN:
Boalt - 62.3% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship
Michigan - 53.8% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship
UVA - 67.6% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship
Duke - 70.2% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship
Penn - 78.0% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship
Cornell - 73.3% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship
GULC - 48.4% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship
Northwestern - 65.0% Large Firm/Fed Clerkship

And those certainly aren't the only jobs out there for lawyers. I'm just not seeing the bad odds here. GULC and Michigan are the only two where you're near a 50/50 proposition.

I'm probably a lot less risk-averse than most TLSers (could be wrong about that) so that might be where the difference of opinion lies here.

Your early 20s are far too precious.
What's so precious about them? I'm genuinely curious.(seriously, not being sarcastic)
I know this doesn't sound very economic-y of me and I apologize for that, but: It has a lot to do with the time value of time and the fact that MAXIMIZING YOUR MAXIMUM EARNING POTENTIAL (even if you knew that would happen for sure) isn't the most important thing in life.

Nony won't say it but I will- No one should be K-JD. It's trite, but virtually no one knows wtf they are doing in life as a 22-23-24 year old. And if you think you're a snowflake who does then you definitely don't. There's just much better uses of your time at that stage in life.

I'm not saying never go to law school, just never go to law school as a K-JD.

I guess I am a snowflake then because I'm 23 years old and I know exactly what I want to do with my life. And I know what I need to do to accomplish it. In fact, maximizing my earning potential is not why I went to law school.

school is easier and more fun than working. working during my early 20s is more of a waste than being in school. I'm not KJD btw.

I checked the OP's stats, he has (or had) a near 4.0 GPA and a 170 LSAT. Not perfect numbers but numbers that will get him money in the T14 and likely accepted to one of CCN.

If he knows that he wants to go to law school, I don't see what taking a year or two off is going to do for him.(well, I do know what advantages it could give him...but I just don't think they're great enough for it to be worth it)
You mean that 3 more questions on a stupid test (and one year) = possible BIG merit money (and/or very high probability at HLS) is not worth it?

Not if he doesn't want to retake or if he gets those 3 questions in October.(if he retakes then)

Not really. He's capable of getting big money at some lower T14 schools with his stats.

If anything, i overperformed what lsn predicted for me and i'm K-JD. I found it to be a good indicator though. As long as your lsat and gpa are within range, i am a strong believer in the idea that it depends on the kind of application you put together
