Looking at the lsat numbers from February there was an increase of 4.4% in test takers from the previous year. If this trend continues can we expect the next cycle to be more competitive than this year?

I ask because I'm thinking about sitting out a year and improving my lsat score 162/3.9 with one attempt last December. I've received some decent offers from middle schools like W&M, UGA, WF and full rides from UR and IU-B. I also was accepted to GW and Vandy 16k and 20k per year respectively.

I know I can get my score up at least a few points but I'm worried that without a significant increase, I may be in a worse position next cycle.

Do you guys think this trend will continue and if so, how much will it affect acceptances/scholarship offers next cycle.

Regardless of how competitive next cycle is, you should retake and reapply. With a 3.9 GPA you obviously either have the smarts, work ethic, or both to get a higher score. Another 5 or 6 points and you're into Vandy and GW with a full tuition scholarship and into lower T14 with some money. Another 10 or so points and you're looking at maybe Harvard with money at most T14.

I know this doesn't answer the question you originally posed in the title, but it should answer the question of what you should do.

ETA: To more directly respond to your question, even if it is more competitive, it will only slightly be so. I cannot imagine that you would be in a worse position next cycle.

Studying for the lsat is awful, I haven't even look at an lsat question since January. Hopefully I can see improvement before October. Otherwise taking a year off will have been for nothing.

I'm too lazy to look at the data (someone else can back me up), but while there was an increase in test takers, there was still a decrease (or not as much of an increase) in high scores, and this is the data you should be focusing on.

And with your GPA you shouldn't accept much less than a 170 so plz sit out and retake and make yourself an easy six figures and set yourself up for a nice career.

Do you know what's even more awful? Going into debt at one of the schools you mentioned and coming out 3 years later unemployed and with bleak job prospects.

Three years of law school at a TTT sounds more awful to me than one hundred question multiple choice test
