Correlation between ACT reading and LSAT?
Basically the title-- have you guys experienced or observed a correlation between LSAT scores and scores on the ACT/SAT reading section?

I mean, they're both standardized tests, so there's going to be some correlation, but it will probably be rather weak.

I had perfect SAT reading and writing with almost no studying. I did not 180, and I had to work really hard for my low 170s score (on a retake from a high 160s). IMO they call for different skills.

Darn, not what I wanted to hear. But I guess it's to be expected, ACT/SAT just requires you to do better than most high schoolers, LSAT curve is more rigorous by self selection.leslieknope wrote:I had perfect SAT reading and writing with almost no studying. Low 170s is 98-99th percentile. That looks like (one data point in) a strong correlation to me.leslieknope wrote:I had perfect SAT reading and writing with almost no studying. Of course there's a correlation. But no, that is not useful information for your purposes. And yes, you still have to study your ass off.

Your RC score may correlate with the ACT/SAT reading score, but the LG and LR sections test quite different skills (apart from the literal skill of being able to read the questions).

I would assume so. The UG schools with the highest median LSATs are usually the ones with classes with the highest cumulative ACT (which with such large population sizes would likely imply highest reading too). And I would bet for sure the average RC score for a 165 is higher than the average RC score on a 150 test.

True. I think I was just trying to get a feel for the test-- much more intelligent to just take a diagnostic. Thanks to alldownbeat14 wrote:Shouldn't surprise u (OP) that there is a loose corrrelation.RareExports wrote: Good test takers are good test takers and smart people are smart people.
