3.5 and a 174 isn't terrible.
Take the LSAT and then use your actual score to decide if it's worth it for you to apply.
Work experience/time to distance yourself from bad grades doesn't hurt. It sounds like you have a strong upward trend that could be the topic of a gpa addendum.
Source: I have a 3.5 and a good LSAT and did fine

The cycle I applied was particularly favorable for splitters, but speaking from experience, you should be looking at $$ from some T14. Just be sure to apply everywhere to hedge/negotiate--especially Cornell.

With a 175+ you'd have a shot at Columbia. You have a better chance at NYU w/ $ as they are more splitter-friendly than Columbia. NYU gave me an unsolicited fee waiver and was my first acceptance of the cycle. UVA, in my experience, low balls splitters and will not budge. Vandy's offer will likely be uncompetitive w/ NU or Cornell and they will not budge.
The single most important thing to do now is kill the LSAT.

Obviously highly dependent on what your actual LSAT is, but just so you know that you will be in a solid position with a killer LSAT.

Seamus887 wrote:That's awesome stats. I don't remember it looking that positive but maybe I had typed in wrong ranges or cycles. Here's to hoping PT scores carry over.
You can see the ranges I used above the table. 3.5-3.59*, 172-175, 2011-15.
*I assumed that 3.5ish meant 3.5x; if you rounded up to 3.5 then I would adjust the range down.
