Possible to work for a lawyer for free?

It has been a dream of mine to be a lawyer since I was a child but I want to make sure I know what it fully entails before doing it. Would it be possible for me to work for a lawyer for free or do a unpaid legal internship? I am right now in between jobs so I have time to do this. And if so, do you know how I can go about doing this? I don't know any lawyers.

Yes. Find a lawyer. Ask them. Or find a job posting for entry-level work at a law firm. Apply. Not really sure what else you're looking for.

Yeah, this is obviously possible, but I don't know why you would want to do that, because it is also definitely possible to work for a lawyer for money. Just find local law firms and reach out--the receptionist will know who you would want to talk to. Look for entry-level part time work or a paid internship before you accept any unpaid position.

Don't forget to reach out to public interest non-profit firms. They usually hire 2-4 undergrad interns per year for the summers and have well structured programs/lectures/field trips. Summers are the best for interning in PI.
