No "Why UVa?" Essay
Hi all,
I applied to UVa in early December, but didn't write a "Why UVa" essay to include. Should I go ahead and write one now and send it in to them, or is it not worth it?
Thanks!

What are your stats? Are you in YP territory?
Better late than never, I guess. The worst that can happen is they think you're disingenuous.

DO IT! I applied in September and was really interested in UVA but didn't write a "Why" and it is one of the only T14 (excluding T3) that I haven't heard anything from. UVA seems to really be trying to up their yield.

Do it. They're not hard, just make sure it's sincere.

Re: No "Why UVa?" Essay
Unlike the other YP schools (e.g. Penn) UVA doesn't offer a prompt for "Why UVA" so many applicants wouldn't think to include one. Makes sense considering that usually the prevailing wisdom regarding apps is "less is more."downbeat14 wrote:It's def worth it. Not sure why you wouldn't have done it in the first place if you really wanted UVA? They definitely are the type of program to care if you want to go there.
