Top Law Schools

So just sent received a personal email saying I was denied admission to my dream school and that my decision letter was sent out on Friday. I applied Tuesday. So it took three days for them to deny me. I have a 170 LSAT and a 3.6X GPA . No C&F issues. Why Michigan statement as well.

What could this mean that I was denied so quickly?

Wait until you get the letter.

Why? Do you think it's a mistake? My file isn't even complete yet.

It could be. That sort of turn around doesn't make sense.

I've actually heard about instances from two separate schools this cycle (neither of them UMich) that they have "accidentally" sent out rejection letters to some applicants, and that it was an administrative error that has nothing to do with the real decision. It more had to do with the timing that some specific apps came in.

I honestly have no clue if this is what your situation could be, but its not unheard of. Its even happened this cycle.

I'm hoping to god that this is the case. Because if Michigan turning me away so quickly is legitimate, that must mean there is something very wrong with my application.....

I'd wait for your letter to see if there is some sort of explanation. If there isn't, shoot them an email. However, try to stay patient for that letter before taking action.

Too late. I sent a confused (but hopefully gracious email back) basically telling them "Thank you for taking the time to write this email. I sent my apps on Tuesday- does this mean the decision letter was sent out 3 days later? My status checker still says incomplete."

Something to that effect.

It was just a mistake. They emailed me back graciously apologizing. Thank god, Michigan is a top choice for me right now. It would be crushing to be rejected in so little time.

Fantastic that its just a mistake. But damn... why is this happening so much this year? I mean, its not like a minor mistake.... its not like they're saying an apps under review when its just complete or something. They're literally tossing out negative decisions on accident.

Thanks to all who replied. I'll update the other forum. It's a human mistake and I understand, but I did have a mini- heart attack for a moment. An emotional day for me.
