If it's already covered in your personal statement, then I don't see much of a need for an addendum.

FWIW, I submitted my addendum via email to some schools after I had already submitted my app.

Yeah, it's not entirely uncommon. I don't think it reflects poorly upon the applicant. I think admissions offices understand that sometimes people think they've said all they need to say (or didn't need to say anything), but decide after the fact it's best to do so.

Also - the same goes for Why X's.

I don't think there's an issue with submitting an addendum after the application, but if it's already covered then why bother. Obviously it's a judgement call and it's up to you; just make sure they're not reading the same thing over and over again.

Having read your excellent PS and DS, I don't think you need one because you covered it already. I think Ad Comms will have a good idea of who you were as a student and the challlenges you faced without spelling it out again in an addendum.

Thanks Hillz! I'm glad you were able to chime in.. I guess I'm just worried for no reason.


And thanks to everyone else who also commented. I think the best thing to do is not submit one (which I'm glad because I'm tired of writing essays).
