Has anyone received an application email from Harvard?

See title above.
I received an invitation to "consider" HLS from the admissions department via email today. I do not have the hard numbers needed for admissions, so I found this surprising. Did anyone else receive this email? Is it worth applying or is HLS just looking to boost their application stats this year?

Thanks for the help!

Pretty sure rejection rate goes into the rankings algorithm, so they encourage people to apply even though they know they won't accept them.

This thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... d#p6284921 covers a similar question, and the consensus there seems to be that HLS is looking to boost their rejection rates.

Way under the standard for HLS, 3.5, high 160

Middle eastern but not considered URM.

Seems like a blatant attempt at getting an app with no chances of acceptance but I tried searching the forums and the Internet and saw nothing about this email.

Ah. Perfect, thanks. Figured as much but couldn't find anything on the Internet. I'll shoot an email for a fee waiver and see if I can get it. Might as well try if it's free (pretty dick move to troll for selectiveness)

Np! Yeah, I'm sure through these e-mails they've found a few special snowflakes with some unique softs who may not have applied otherwise, but by and large it just seems like a simple way to get more applicants.

Is it worth even asking for fee waiver?

definitely. don't count on getting one though.

i'd apply if you get it, for the reason you stated. i wouldn't if you don't, unless you are seriously special in some way.

Pretty sure HLS doesn't do merit waivers.

i got the same nonsense, numbers no where they need to be to even get a legit consideration. app numbers must be down as compared to the past, just trying to boost traffic.

I got an email from them yesterday, and am wayyy below their numbers. Got irrationally excited for a split second, then realized they are clearly just trying to boost their stats. Unfortunately this is all it is.
