How many apps is too many? 37?

Curious to see how many apps people submitted. I'm trying to get a full ride so I applied to a lot of places to increase the odds. Are schools able to find out how many apps were submitted?

37?!?! Holy moly. I applied to 15, I think, and I think I applied a couple too many. Honestly, I threw some apps out there hoping that the admit/$ would act as a negotiation factor.

Afaik, every school uses basically the same criteria for admissions and scholarships, so the shotgun approach probably isn't necessary. If you're looking for money, just look at a gpa/lsat ranking and apply to schools where your numbers beat their 75ths (schools that you'd accept of course).

Yeah but some schools might offer you a bit more compared to another school in the same region with similar medians. It'd be smart to apply to both (or more) of these peer schools to use the offers against each school as a negotiation for more cash moooooney.

No, not rich. Just sent a ton of emails for merit-based fee waivers and was granted about 25 or so..... so it's not going to be that expensive. And hey, if it saves me money in the long-run.....

Are you applying to all schools ranked #1 through #37?

37 is too many because they must include a minimum of 37 - 14 = 23 regional schools.

given the sheer number, those must be spread across at least several states, and there's no way you have legitimate ties to all of them.

I went with 10.

6 median or above, 2 not even 25%, and 2 close to or at 25%.

I have 'ties' to none of those schools...willing to create ties in all of them if I go there. Spread your wings bro.

Think he's talking about the over 1k you paid in reports alone.

The average # of applications each applicant filled out for the last two years is about 6.5.
The two years prior to that, it was closer to 7.

So yeah, you went insanely overboard, but you do you.

balLSAC will still charge $28 per app

You should only apply to schools you would actually attend.

This is a horrible, I repeat, horrible strategy.

How do I obtain ties to out of state schools before I actually go there? I mean direct ties, sure I have acquaintances I am networking with that went to these schools and live here locally, but what kind of ties are 'sufficient'? I'm a first gen college student, let alone LS student. There are no law schools in my local area, and I have no intention of moving back here when I am done for regional school ties to help. What should I do?
