Too Late to Apply?

Hello, everyone.

Quick question: Is it too late to apply to schools this late in the admissions cycle?

I really want to get a good shot at some t-50 schools, but I'm not sure if I have waited too long to knock myself out of a good chance.

3.47 GPA
avg. PT score (15-20 PTs): 151
Awaiting Dec. LSAT score (most likely 155+ range)

Also, I'm currently awaiting one LOR which plays a factor in my delay.

Thanks for your comments in advance!

Not too late. Before Christmas is on time, afterwards is starting to get late (but there is much speculation that it will not be too late this cycle since apps are down). That said, you should really consider retaking if your score ends up being that low.

There is never a good time to apply with a 151 LSAT score. sit out this cycle and retake until you get a good score.

Wait did you only take one practice test to prepare or is that your average score? If the former, lol

Not too late.

Did you take in Dec? OP doesn't say...

Lol, it's my average (took over 15-20 PTs). Currently awaiting my December LSAT to come back with a 155+

Yes, I took the December test. Thanks for pointing that out.

mylsn allows for searching by submission date

w/ a 150-155 you'll have a tough time getting T50

Yeah, I wanted to get different perspectives. But thanks for the feedback.

Biglaw is not my main/end goal (in other words...the $$$ will be there, I'm just not saying "Biglaw or bust") , so I don't feel too down about not getting t-14, t-25, etc.

It's not too late, but you definitely need to get that LSAT score up. Last cycle, I applied to second tier public schools in late April with a 3.2 and an LSAT in the low 160s and got full-rides. With applications dropping again this cycle, they'll probably be accepting applications later and later. The difference between a 155 and 161-163 in terms of scholarships is huge, but it's not a huge jump to make with a little extra studying. 155 might be paying full-freight at a TT school while a 160+ might get you a full-ride at the same school. Seriously, the debt is no joke. If your LSAT comes back in the 150s, you NEED to retake.

Even if biglaw isn't your goal, you're most likely going to have trouble finding a law-related job if you go to a school that accepts you with a 151. And I think it comes down to whether it's worth the time and money of going for a risky chance of actually getting to use your degree.

Your username says it all. Retake for a 160 and above, especially with that weak GPA.
But no, applying in early January isn't too late. However, applying first thing next semester with a higher score will give you the best options. I urge you to reach your full potential and to not handicap yourself by applying with such a low LSAT.

Thanks for the advice. *prints out 20 more PTs*

Have you been drilling (like with Cambridge packets sorted by type)? How do you review your answers on PTs? If you're just taking PTs without doing anything else, that may be why you are struggling.

I've used the powerscore bible and kaplan mastery books, so far. And I use the blind review method for reviewing.

LR has always served as my weakest section.

Ditch Kaplan. It's horrendous.
Here are the prep materials I endorse:

For LR, 100% get The Trainer and Manhattan LR.
