Does an addendum count as an optional essay for Michigan

Michigan's optional essay is really confusing. It seems that the third optional essay can be used to address the LSAT retakes and GPA issues, but after reading it again, I found it wasn't really about a bad retake or a downward trend in GPA.
If I want to send them addenda to explain my GPA and LSAT problems, should I include them in addenda? Do addenda count as the two optional essays?
