Re: Should I get work experience @ law firm before law school?
I think the benefit of work experience has little to do with admissions. It has to do with the job search and OCI. Working at a firm is a good talking point in interviews since you can claim you know your shit about what a firm is like, gives a good why law/law school answer, etc. (the actual lawyers on this board can feel free to say this is wrong if it is). that pay isn't great. But if you have no living expense then I'd say go for it, personally. Also depends on what you would be doing at the firm.

WE is pretty much always TCR as a disclaimer*
However, in my case I got a good financial offer from a school I loved, I came in with a clear goal of what I wanted to do and had reasonable knowledge of what the work entails, and I have solid fallback options.

scottidsntknow, describe said fall back options… either way, don't you think it'd be a waste of 3 years of your life if you realize you hate the law?
That's why I applied to law firms since I want to get a feel for the way lawyers work

Re: Should I get work experience @ law firm before law school?
Because he seems like he is "on the fence" to whether law may be the right fit for him…
I just think it should be a REQUIREMENT for people to get work experience before law school. And no — internships during a summer don't count. One should work without going to school to get a sense of the REAL WORLD, and to grow as a person.
But that's just my opinion...

This has taken a strange turn...
But anyways, to assuage your concerns, I'm not "on the fence" about law and I'm perplexed as to where you read into that based on what I've said

I don't meant to attack you but…
based on your post that "you came in with a clear goal of what you wanted to do, and had reasonable knowledge of what the work entails" isn't supported by your work experience.
You also received a "good" financial aid offer (from, i assume, WUSTL). Was it a full-ride or close to one? I'm saying that because their post-employment stats (based on law school transparency) isn't pretty.
And then you said you had SOLID fallback options. If said fallback options were that SOLID, don't you think it would have been reasonable to have tried them before attending law school? To see if these options were something better? And if they were not what you expected, then law school would have seemed as the sound option.
Just my two cents.

I love weird meandering threads where the OP just goes full stream of consciousness.

OP, why are you interrogating someone who posted here to answer your question?

Because he's URM and thus entitled to the absolute best.A. Nony Mouse wrote:OP, why are you interrogating someone who posted here to answer your question?
When Scholarly Sweets has work experience, lives on his own (he disclosed to me in a PM that he is fighting with girlfriend, who belittles him because he has loans. And he calls her abusive, yet lives with her and relies on her for rent and arrogantly says "Well, I can live with my parents, everyone does that, lol"), and acquires a "good" financial offer from a school with a worthy employment rate, then he can talk.
Otherwise, just stfu private welfare whore.

He certainly comes off as if he's entitled to the best. Post your input and "I don't mean to attack you but..."Dirigo wrote: I was referring to the racism, not the fact.
Yeah, I don't want to be asked questions regarding how I paid off my debt and hear your PAYE shit.

He shouldn't be interrogating you. He doesn't really display much machismo himself.

Yeah, so, do NOT do this. The one has NOTHING to do with the other. Additional comments along these lines will lead to a ban.bluchai wrote:Because he's URM, and thus entitled to the very best.
In fact, I don't think this thread is going to go anywhere productive any more.
