Should I write a diversity statement. I am an African American but would I be hurting myself by not writing a diversity statement?

but you wouldn't help yourself by not writing one.

Just write one. You'll probably have to write one for 1L diversity SAs anyway, so might as well start thinking about how your background has shaped you, the role of diversity, etc.

If it's redundant with your PS then no. If its not then yes
