Top Law Schools

I've been set on going to law school for about a year now. Sitting on a 168/3.3 as an AA. My main concern is my lack of significant WE. I graduated in 2013 and have had some internships but I'll admit that I've been slacking hardcore on getting the big boy job. Do you guys think my lack of significant WE will seriously hinder my admission chances, being a year out of school? I should also mention that I am supporting myself with two part-time customer service jobs.

Assuming you graduated in May 2013, that's really not that long ago

Marginal value at best. Particularly any WE you might get between now and August of 2015. You could a) save money or b) try to get an internship that might improve your legal stock at the 1L job search. That's about it and even that is negligible value.

You graduated in 2013 and haven't landed a full-time post graduation job. I think that is bad and if I was interviewing you (for Summer Associate gigs), I would wonder why you never landed a FT gig. I think it would be to your advantage to land a ft gig. Intenships don't teach you anything and having WE will be more valuable than what any K-JD person can offer. As of now, you are practically a K-JD person. It's been 1.5 since you graduated. While your LSAT is good, your gpa is low. If you have a year or two at a well known company or doing something of interest, that can set you apart and get you significant scholarships at a T14. This will set you apart in job interviews and in your personal statement where you can talk about your work experience.

In addition, at a 168, you should retake. You are very close to Harvard/Yale acceptance without question. Now get off your ass and get a FT job.

Lots of good suggestions here so thank you for the advice. I think it'd be in my best interest personally to get a fulltime job regardless of the law school application process. It's just that I'd rather apply as early in the cycle as I can, rather than wait til I have that job experience to add to my resume. Ii'm also not going to assume that i'll be able to write a PS about whatever job I get, though maybe an addendum down the line if i get waitlisted anywhere.

As far as my LSAT, I'm pretty hesitant about that because I actually ended up scoring higher than my PT's. I was PTing in the mid 160s. But after doing more research the past couple months, I know what you're saying about how a 170 could put me comfortably in T6 territory, I just don't want to risk getting a lower score.
