Apply ED GULC or Retake? 167/3.4

I recently received my Sept LSAT score and I was disappointed to see a 167. Unfortunately I made a really careless error on Game 2 and missed 5/7 questions on it. My PT average was a 172 and without that mistake I would have scored a 171 (assuming I got every question correct, which I usually do).
Career goals: The only markets I am gunning for are Florida and DC. I would also prefer to live in a big city for law school.
As for cost of attendance, I am fortunate enough to not need to worry about $$$--a full ride vs 0 scholarship makes an insignificant difference. I am merely trying to attend the best school I can with my numbers.
With that being said, would it be foolish to apply ED to GULC?

You do not have a good shot at DC with your current numbers for jobs. Retake for CCN or UVA - that's your best shot.

What do you mean? How do my numbers affect my future job prospects?

DC is the hardest market to crack, & Florida is so ties sensitive its ac complete crap-shoot. GULC already places only 40% into biglaw/fedclerk, and much of that isn't in DC. You want to give yourself better than 20% odds of achieving your goals, and your PTs demonstrate that you are able to do so.

Ahh I see what you are saying. My only concern is retaking and not doing better and applying later in the cycle thereby decreasing my chances. What a shame, this all would have been so much easier if I hadn't made that careless error.

Where are you from?
You won't get a big law job in Florida if that's what you're thinking. That's impossible.
Big law in DC is possible if you get really good grades I guess. That's unlikely.
I'd retake and aim higher if I were filthy rich. Would much rather go to a school like NYU than Georgetown.

If you're loaded, which it sounds like, living in MFH (Manhattan) is kinda sweet. With a 172, you'd cop Columbia or NYU probably.

I have extremely strong Florida ties. born/raised + family is here.

I wouldn't say my family is loaded, but we are well off enough where 300k over a 3 year period isn't a concern.

First off,
flawschoolkid wrote:Retake
is absolutely TCR when you got a score way under your PTs.
Secondly, law school isn't going anywhere. Don't feel like you absolutely must go this cycle.
Third, GULC's ED isn't due until like March or something. No need to rush into it.

Well, in that case: You won't get a big law job in Florida if that's what you're thinking. That's impossible.
Also:

I know this hurts to hear but your family is incredibly rich if so. Put the money to better use than Georgetown. You only live once. Friends don't let rich friends go to GULC at sticker.

based on this statement, I am going to guess our definitions of loaded are vastly different. If you have that much money, retake and aim for Columbia or NYU.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know GULC's big law placement?

I saw that but I was unsure of whether or not the disclaimer regarding paralegals and administrative staff had anything to do with Georgetown. 40% chance at BigLaw doesn't seem too bad though.

ED'ing GULC might be the worst thing you could do. Retake and/or apply RD.

If you take another 3 hour test you can go to a school with 80%. Nut up & do it. If you don't want to get worked to the bone, the law isn't for you anyway.

Seriously though, give up on the FL big law dreams. NYC (maybe DC) big law is pretty much a best case scenario.

I talked to an associate at a V100 satellite in FL a few weeks back who told me they look at prospects from top law schools with strong ties to Florida before they even consider top kids from UM/UF/FSU. With that being said, there are only ~6 SA spots at his office. The point being that it's not impossible.

That runs counter to everything I have heard about that market. It's rough, and I don't think that guy was being honest about what that market is like in general (or perhaps you misunderstood him). Schmo-y T14 turncoats (and there is nothing more schmo-y than a GULC median turncoat bro) are dead on arrival. Too many schools in FL, not enough jobs. Abandon all hope.
Just can't be DC/FL or bust is all I'm saying. Luckily you have plenty of time to make peace with the fact that if it happens for you, you'll probably be in NYC.
Good luck on the retake, definitely the right decision.

Retake for sure. Every point counts. And since schools outside of H and S only take the highest LSAT, it can only help. Good luck.

Georgetown is my top choice and even I vote retake. If you're averaging a 172, then you can easily score higher than that. From what I've read UVA places much better into DC and is splitter friendly.
Plugging your numbers into LSN, with a gap range of 3.4-3.4 and an LSAT range of 170-174 you have a 67% chance of admittance. and at georgetown you're at 86%. NYU is also another great option. Check it out
