Diversity Statement

I find this forum very useful and would like to get some help here.
I am currently an assistant professor of engineering in a small school. I supervise PhD students (Certainly I also have a PhD in Engineering), publish a lot of technical papers and also get a NSF research grant as Co-PI. I got my undergraduate degree in Physics in Asia and got my PhD degree in a top-25 US school. If applying to law school, I wonder if I should write a diversity statement? By the way, I am considering being a patent lawyer after graduation from law school.
