Application Help

Hello,

I was hoping you all could give me some advice on my application timeline. I took the September 2014 LSAT and I am currently waiting for my score. I already pretty much know what schools I want to apply to, but I was waiting for my score to be able to decide definitively. I am freaking out though because I have not started my applications. I am reading that people are done with them! I have a lot of time to spend on getting them done, so I will start today. I already have one LOR and the others won't be that hard to get. I met with a prelaw advisor and because I was studying my ass off for the LSAT she told me not to even look at application stuff until October. I was sitting here thinking I had a while to get my applications done considering most are not due until after the new year. Now I am sitting here thinking that I am screwed. Someone please help! What should I get started on today??

Thank you so much!

The actual online applications take only a couple minutes each--unless the have extra essays, or weird questions. Just get your PS, letters, transcripts together and hopefully you won't have to retake LSAT in Dec

You are perfectly fine and still early. Try to get your apps done by Thanksgiving next month and you are solid.

As stated, the actual application can be done in less than 15 minutes.

Personal statement can take a while, so I'd get going on that after you are done celebrating/mourning your LSAT score.

Send your transcript now. Ask for the second LOR, like, today. LOR writers can take forever and there's not much you can do to speed them up. It may be worth asking for a third one just in case the one you expect now falls through. Start your personal statement yesterday. You should shoot for submitting your applications before the new year at the latest.

As others have said, the actual applications are simple and quick. But the entire process includes what I wrote above, and you should have started those things earlier than now. It's not too late but you are a bit behind the ball. You should probably ignore any other advice your advisor gave you.

Thank you so much for your help. I have sent transcripts in already so they have those and are putting together my report. I am starting personal statement today, and I have two other LORs being worked on (I informed them months ago, and they said they will do them this week) Hopefully working on this will take my mind off of the LSAT scores!

Knowing this, you sound like you aren't behind at all. Some people apply the day they open in August (or September). Generally, anything by December is still early. Relax, get the PS done, hope the LOR's don't take unnecessary months to submit (it can happen), and stop listening to your pre-law adviser.

Thank you! Working on Personal Statement today! I will not be retaking in December. The September test was my 3rd go around. Hated that I had to take it three times, but I feel great about my performance. I took it December 2013 and cancelled, then June 2014 I did not do as well as I knew I could, and September was an amazing test experience so here's to hoping!

Thank you for helping me out! :) I am trying to get caught up now.

Will LSAC let you know when your transcript has been received? I sent mine in over a week ago and haven't heard anything...panic

They will let you know when it's done being processed I think. Took me quite a while, cause my school was slow sending it and they were slow processing it. Not anything to worry about.
