I took the LSAT in December 2006 a day after a major car accident. I didn't cancel my score as I was so confident that I did OK. It proved me wrong. Question is, what are my chances of getting into any ABA law school in California with my current score? I am confident my score will be higher when I take the test again.whenever that may be...

I applied to all the ABA schools in California (application fees were waived for all schools except Davis). My undergraduate GPA is a 3.65, my Graduate GPA is a 3.95 (graduate in June). I have been working since high school and throughout my college studies in respectable public agencies doing progressive professional work.

So basically I have everything going for me for the exception of my LSAT score:

Good GPA
Work Experience
Masters Degree
Minority
Lived in a really bad city my whole life

I want to go to law school, but really don't want to take the LSAT again...I cant take standardized exams as my SAT was horrible. I just cant.. I mean I have no more schooling after June and if I don't get into any schools, it's either work full time and forget about law, or study up for the next exam.

I submitted my apps like two weeks ago and it's been hell just thinking about it. oh man. Any tips, comments, suggestions, laughs?

Your options:

1) Retake the LSAT and re-apply for 2009. I know you say you can't...but you can. You can and you should.
2) Don't got to Law School. With that score it is unlikely that any ABA approved school would take you. Going to a non-ABA approved school is a death sentence.

I'm sorry, I know its not what you want to hear. But you owe yourself a fair shake at success and with your current LSAT score, its just not possible.

^^^Agreed. That's really the best advice. The only other option is to send in an addendum detailing your history of test scores which belie your ability to succeed. But if you retook and scored any higher, you could still submit that addendum. Retake. It really can only help.

with an addendum supplementing your URM status, i'm sure some T3/4 schools will offer you admission. don't take the lsat again if you don't want to- obviously you realize that a higher score will give you greater opportunities, but if you don't feel like taking it again, don't. you'll get into law school without a retake.

If you're a URM, you should apply to at least two more schools in the T14.

You should absolutely retake. I had a minor car accident the afternoon prior to my first LSAT and ended up scoring in the 64th percentile. I was devastated (I'm dramatic I know) and really had no interest in putting myself through it again. However, even as an urm with additional decent soft factors, I knew that I would not be giving myself the best chance given the abilities/potential that I know I have. So I retook without even really doing much more prep and scored in the 93rd percentile. Now I'm in at Duke. You should seriously consider retaking. Otherwise, your investment may end up not being worth the returns.

There is plenty of advice on this board and all over the internet to possibly help you increase your score thereby increasing your chances. I am sure that a major car accident in an addendum can help to partially erase the memory of that original score from the adcoms' minds.

If you search this page, LSAC, etc... for employment stats you'll see that your chances of increased return (ie a job that pays well) on investment (six figures in law school debt) with a higher score are tremendous.

That's my $0.02.

Let me give you some advice, since that is what everyone does.
LOL.

Re-take the LSAT. Study your tail off, and raise your score about 30 points.

Welcome to scholarships.

The more distance you can put between that score and your next score, the better you look.

If you're real, then you need to retake your LSAT. It is imperative, not optional. You won't go to a school that you want to, you will not have the opportunities you could.

You could attend Thomas Jefferson right now and pay full price (~$120,000), or you could attend Thomas Jefferson with a 160 LSAT score and get a full ride. If someone said they'd pay you 120 grand if you could do a better job figuring out that test, what would you say?

1. You should have already registered to take the Feb exam.

2. Your stats do not even qualify you for cooley

3. If you didnt register for feb, you will be attending law school in 09 not 08 after you retake the LSAT and get at least a 145-150. If you can get a 155+, you will be a good candidate for a lot of T2 schools.
