Anybody else mess up by taking college classes in HS?

Post by danktank » Mon Sep 22, 2014 3:17 am

So I am currently a sophomore at an academically strong public university. I currently have a cumulative 3.75 in college. However, when I was in high school I took some dual credit classes at a local community college that I completely blew off and ended up with 18 hours of a 3.0 GPA. I know that the LSAC calculates these hours into my GPA, but it is stressing me out because it is significantly dragging my LSAC GPA down to around 3.4. I know that addendums can be attached to applications, but is there any chance law schools will actually factor this into their admissions decisions or am I out of luck? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You're only a sophomore. Does this mean you still have about 60 credits to complete? If so, you're 18 credits with an average of a B will have even less of an effect once you graduate, presuming your'e still taking between 60-90 more credits. The effect will be minimized and you should be able to graduate with a 3.7 to 3.8 if you can ensure you get great grades from here on out. This would leave you in the running for pretty much any school as long as you can perform well on the LSAT.

It saddens me that there are 19 year old 1st semester sophomores stressing out already about LS admissions.

I did. Ended up at a t14. Just worry about what you can control.

Hurt my GPA quite a bit, still ended up at a T6. You'll be fine, just work your ass off to not let your GPA slip any more.
