Need advice on my admissions strategy.

Hello all, I would like some advice on the admissions strategy I should employ. My numbers are a 3.1 GPA w/ a 170 LSAT. Now that that is out of the way, it is worth noting that I honestly believe I can perform better, and will be retaking in December. My app list consists of, in order of preference: UVA, Cornell, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, Texas, Chapel Hill, George Washington.

In a nutshell, I am a splitter with a good personal statement, work experience as an Army National Guard officer and a full time police officer. I have no academic achievements to highlight on a resume, but exceptional performance in Army schools, at my unit, the police academy, and in my police department.

I wanted to write a why UVA/Cornell addendum and have what I believe to be good material for that, but this damn resume is killing me. Does anyone have advice?

Advice in general? Or resume advice?

I definitely think you should also apply to NU and WashU. Definitely do a why UVA.

I'm a sponge for information so I will take anything, but I am specifically interested in the resume.

The education section of your resume really doesn't have to be that long, especially if you've been out of school for a while and have significant work experience. Take a look at some of the sample resumes posted on HLS's website if you'd like some examples: http://www.law.harvard.edu/prospective/ ... urces.html
