Is an LOCI more informal?

I wrote a why X to a school i got waitlisted at. For an LOCI, how should it differ?

As far as I know:

It should be short.

You should highlight something special about the school you find attractive, to show you've done some research.

Be honest.

Ah, I'd ask in the "UChicago XL taking questions" thread. It's such a small class and they waitlist a ton of people. It'll be worth it to craft something that's more tailored in all respects.
