Top Law Schools

I just sent in my deposit today, so I have to let the other schools know that I will not be attending (common courtesy and for the sake of WL applicants, right?)

Can it be done by email? I am abroad and would rather not go through the pains (and some costs) of using international mail. If so, what's the best way to go about it, a simple "sorry, I've decided not to attend your institution?"

When I made my choice I sent an email to whoever I had been in contact with at each school, and told them that I would be withdrawing from the Class of 2017 at Blah Blah Blah Law School. You can tell they where you picked if you want, but you don't have to. Some schools will ask you. But just a basic email saying you aren't attending is all that is needed.

Message: Thank you for wonderful opportunity to attend <<enter school name>> School of Law. I must respectfully decline because I will be accepting an offer elsewhere.

its easiest to just ignore them like they don't exist, but the best way to handle it is to tell them how you feel so everyone involved has closure.

A little harsh but I think its productive feedback

Both parties likely knew early on who would be settling if things continued, so hopefully they enjoyed the ride and in the future will seek out others who are more compatible with them.

Doesn't have to be a TTT. I got admitted to WUSTL but didn't get a scholarship, and got into Illinois where I'll graduate with having spent less than 20k overall. WUSTL - "wai u no lyk me." Um, cause I want to work in Chicago and not commit financial suicide in the process, thanks.

Eh, fair enough. Still, it seems like "b/c your peers offered me big scholarships" is the real answer there. Obviously you thought the job stats were good enough to apply at the school.

I applied to some schools that I mentally crossed off immediately when I didn't get a FR

If the circs were right it could have worked out

What else would she say? Assuming you sent a scholarship negotiation request, they already evaluated your value as an applicant to their school. They aren't going to squander their limited time on an applicant who they were comfortable losing (assuming they didn't increase the scholarship offer). Why would you even send that? You come across as a douchebag for something that is little more than a perfunctory courtesy.

Precisely. I applied to Indiana and Iowa because they were highly ranked school with low admissions standards. Perfect for negotiations.

They asked why I said no to them. Was it another school? They really wanted to know.

So I told them. If they didnt want to know, they should not have asked.
