I'm currently a second year in a competitive 6 year pharmacy program. I've recently become very interested in the prospect of law school following pharmacy school. I was wondering how my major would affect me. I took a practice lsat without studying and scored a 161.

The program i'm currently in is composed of 2 years of professional classes and 4 years of graduate level professional classes. Rather than graduating with a bachelors I would graduate with a pharmd (doctor of pharmacy). I'm afraid that my gpa will be too low to be competitive for top schools. Currently I have a 3.7 with a 3.62 science gpa, I'm not sure if the second part matters at all.

I'm in my last semester of preprofessional classes. I'm taking organic chemistry, bio 300, etc. Starting next year I will be taking graduate level classes (pchem, medchem, etc) where classes will be exponentially harder than they are now. If I were to hypothetically graduate with a 3.5 or even lower would i still be competitive to top schools? Would my major help at all in admissions.

3.5 will give you a shot at most top schools with a competitive LSAT. I don't see why you'd want to spend 6 years getting a pharmacy degree and then go to law school, though. :|

btw are you at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences?

I think law school is a great idea for you. However it's only a good idea if you get an MBA after law school. That way you will be truly valuable to employers. If you're really ambitious, then you can consider a joint JD and masters program in social work. Don't count out phd programs!

The program is only 2 years longer than getting a bachelors degree considering im in an accelerated program. Also i'm attending school without any loans so that wouldnt be a burden. I have a variety of reasons. I'm really interested in health law and advocacy it's something that you would need a solid healthcare background in. i.e. you would need a terminal degree (md, pharmd, mph, etc)

No I attend Rutgers.
