Top Law Schools

Felony in question is a nonviolent crime, occurring 6 years prior to application to Law School.
Have any of you encountered a felon in law school?
Does a felon have the same chances of getting into law school as someone with the same credentials with no felony conviction?
What will the school think about an essay written about his experience as a felon, and his rehabilitation to date?

Any info on felons in, or applying to law school would be appreciated.

You should be more concerned with being admitted to the bar in whatever state. Talk to a C&F attorney.

The big question is what kind of felony. If it involves financial shenanigans or moral turpitude, that'd be a bigger problem than a violent crime, believe it or not. But, at the very least, you should contact your state bar association and ask them point blank about your specific felony.

The offense is a non violent first offense for distribution of marajuana. No stealing, lying, fraud, or money involved.

The issue of the Bar is not my concern (yet) it is the issue of being seen fairly by the law school admissions. Could someone with this on their application get into a t14 school....

I strongly suggest you seek out the services of an attorney specializing in these sorts of issues before you apply to law school. Bar applications SHOULD be your first concern, before you dump assloads of money into a school when you may not be able to practice law after.

I don't see this as being a real issue, but I'd still contact the state bar associations of any state you might want to practice in, just to be sure

+1 law schools want your money, so they have a concrete reason to care less than the states. Check with the state before you give the law school your money.

It totally should be your first concern. I'm sure a lot of respected schools would be glad to take your money knowing full well you'd fail a C&F; it's not really their concern and it's probably not going to affect their decision that much. Especially 'cause it was weed.

Talk to an attorney in the state you want to practice in before going through this process -- it's a must.
