University of Iowa Law - Worth it?
Hello,
I was accepted to UIowa in February, haven't heard anything about funding. My LSAT was low (below there 25%), horrible day. I've been working in big law for 2.5 years as a paralegal and am rather burnt out. I'm curious as to whether Iowa law is worth paying around $100k when it is all said and done or not?
Thank You!

Care to explain your reasoning for this?

There is no way that Iowa is worth going to for that.
Iowa is worth going to if you meet all of these conditions:
- You have ties to Iowa or some reason to live and practice in Iowa
- You do not mind working in small law in a small town
- Your debt load is ~50K at the very most (about what you should expect to make right away)
- You do not mind outsiders making terrible, corny corn jokes about you, forever
Retake, yo.

I've researched these trends and I've figured as much. Guess I was looking for a vote of confidence in the school, haha. Seems they have been marginalized since the housing crisis. I actually work at a V10 and all of the lawyers that graduated from there said that most of the V100s have stopped going to OCI. It's depressing because the idea of working in big law as a paralegal for another year sounds terrible. However, 100k of debt for minimal job prospects sounds even worse.

I know that feel bro. I want to say yes, but you've gotta get a lot more money out of them: getting a higher LSAT is key.Joeshan520 wrote:Guess I was looking for a vote of confidence in the school, haha.

Nope. If you got in there you could probably get a full ride elsewhere, right? That's the decision I had right before the economy tanked. Decided to go to a TTT instead of Iowa. Very happy with that decision.
Now that retake is a no-risk bet, definitely retake.
