You totally butchered your cycle. Try again, apply to entire T14, negotiate for good money. I'm sorry that that's not what you want to hear.

28 is not old (says the guy turning 30 soon.) Just work for another year, save as much money as possible, and polish your applications so you can hit submit the minute they become available in the fall. That 175 + applying early will give you some great opportunities.

Don't you mean a 7-point increase? 168 --> 175
Wait till next cycle; you'll maximize your opportunities that way.

I was confused too. He says he scored 'above 175.' A 9 point increase from 168 should be a 177. Not sure why OP felt the need to be vague instead of just saying 177.

Don't go to UVA unless they give you good money. If not, re-apply next cycle. That's all you can do. You'll waltz into lots of T-14's with a 3.5/177.

Look at it this way...
Do you want to "waste" a year BEFORE law school, before you are a lawyer and before your main aim is stabilizing a career...
...or
Do you want to WASTE a year AFTER law school, looking for jobs that satisfy you, eventually making a hasty decision just to get a JOB rather than a job you may end up actually liking.
This was some of the best advice I ever got (though I'm a 0L) and so now I care much less about taking a year or two off after UG because I'd rather "waste" that year now then later. Wasting a year as JD would suck way more than "wasting" a year as a teacher.
This is not to say you would be in financial ruin or something going to a great school like UVA but I mean wasting in a comparative sense.
