So, i will be doing absolutely nothing this summer. Is it worth it to lightly read some commercial outlines like the nutshell series or emanuel before 1L year?

no it'll fuck you up. you don't know which type of material to try to memorize, learn, understand yet. if anything, get audio tapes. if you can't come across sum & sumstance, law school legends, or barbri... quimbee.com actually has some decent lessons now.

I think Glannons Torts and Civ Pro E&Es can be helpful but most helpful is probably getting to maybe and/or LEEWS. But don't spend time really trying to memorize lots of doctrine and nuances since your teacher will teach it their own way and cover their own stuff.

Dont waste your time trying to learn law before the semester. Learning the law is the easy part. Writing better exam answers than everyone else is the challenging part.

Read gtm, leews, and enjoy your free time while you have it.

Polish your resume and prepare some cover letters to judges and firms.

This. Get your resume in order. Write a draft cover letter you can change later. Start looking up potential employers that interest you and start a spreadsheet including them and their contact information, as well as any connections you might have. It will be a time saver later on if you have all of this information in one place.

If you feel you must read, Getting to Maybe was very helpful for how to start thinking about the law. Law School Confidential was helpful to determine a timeline for job searching/applying, outlining, what to do if you find yourself behind, etc. I didn't follow its briefing or supplements suggestion, but some did and may have found it helpful.
