Diversity Statement as Addendum?

Has anyone submitted their diversity statement as an addendum when a school didn't explicitly ask for a diversity statement?

Right now, I'm looking at a school application for which there is no diversity statement option, and for which this is the addendum description:

"If you wish to submit additional information that you believe will provide further insight into your candidacy please attach this information here."

Thanks!

The Dean of Admissions at Yale (which also doesn't ask for a DS) gave some advice on that on her blog. According to her, they don't hold you submitting it against you, but it's only worth doing if you have a genuine reason for one. The fact that you're Catholic isn't a good one, but being URM, or coming from a poor background could be. Don't know if this holds true down the T14, but I'd imagine it's similar.

Thanks so much for your replies!!

I'm still conflicted about whether to use it or not, though. I really like my diversity statement, and I think it would definitely provide "further insight into my candidacy" as this school's addendum prompt requests. But it doesn't explain anything about my application. My essay is about when I told my best friend I was anorexic (WAS anorexic - past tense!), and how this experience helped me in my role as an advocate for survivors of domestic abuse who weren't always fully comfortable talking about their abuse or who felt guilty for their experiences. Then, in turn, how these combined experiences will help me enrich whichever school's student body. For some schools I twist the ending so that the combined experiences will make me a great, caring lawyer and advocate for vulnerable populations.

Thoughts on using a diversity statement like that as an addendum?
Thanks again!

I think that's a good topic and you should include it!

Just make sure it's not too long. It should be shorter than your PS at the very least.
