Is it better to ask sooner or later? I feel that if I ask right now they still have applications they could replace me with, but if I wait until they have sent all of their acceptances they may be more inclined to negotiate?

If they would replace you for asking for a scholarship then I think that they were probably not going to give you a scholarship in the first place. Also sooner is better. They start to run out of money eventually.

Speaking for myself, it does irk me if someone asks for more money immediately (or very soon) after getting admitted and notified of their scholarship offer. It leaves me with the impression that they didn't actually consider the offer and weigh it against other options, like they were going to ask for more regardless. I think students also have a stronger case if they have other COMPARABLE offers, so to the extent that if it is so early that you don't have those yet it could behoove you to wait until you do.

Cal Trask is right, no school will rescind an offer just for asking for a scholarship increase. Don't worry about that.

There is no 'best' time, but you definitely should not start doing so until you have other offers on the table from peer schools that you can show them. And no school is going to rescind their offer; the law school admissions process is a business.

It also matters how well-positioned you are. If your numbers are both above the 75%, you can reply almost immediately about receiving a low-ball offer, but if you're at the medians, you need to have other offers in hand
(if you're below both 25%, just be grateful they let you in)
