You can fill out Need Access using estimates; you just update the forms once you've filed your taxes. I think that several schools start processing your aid as soon as you state which type you are applying for so I'm not sure if you can add need-based after the fact.
I completed mine using said estimates, and applied for both merit and need-based aid and haven't had a problem (fwiw, I am also a HYS accepted student who is hoping for decent sized schollys from other T14s).
