This is my first time posting on this site but I've enjoyed reading what others have to say.

I was browsing the myLSN site thanks to someone's recommendation, and for Yale, it looked like there were 25% of people who got in with stats of a 3.88 GPA and 170 LSAT. That's a pretty sizeable percentage given that they were all non-URM - any idea what could have put them over the top? (I recognize that no one really knows what happens during the admin process, but I'm sure people have ideas on what could have been the case). Maybe prestige of undergrad institution or work experience?

Interesting, I wonder why he would have wanted to transition to law if he had such a successful career in science (sorry if I misinterpreted your tone, didn't know if you were being sarcastic in that post)

Students who get into Yale with those numbers probably have greats softs. The link below gives you an idea of the type of experiences Yale students have, though admittedly some of them (e.g. being a black belt or a spin instructor) are probably unlikely to give an applicant much of a boost.

It was sarcastic to a degree. Imagine if you were an adcom at yale, you had 1000 applications in front of you with GPA's approaching 4.0 and LSATs of 170 and above, and you had to pick 190 of them to admit.

MyLSN is very anecdotal, so i wouldn't put a lot of faith into its statistics (in this kind of overly specific matter). People with a 3.88 and 170 who get into Yale probably have awesome stories to go along with their numbers.

If you mean Yale's official 25th GPA and LSAT percentile, you're reading it wrong. 25% of Yale's class didn't get in with that, 25% had either < 3.88 or < 170. Could easily be a 3.88/180 and a 4.3/170 to get that percentile.

Where's the link that shows Yale's grid for GPA and LSAT bandwidths? That would be helpful to look at.

Actually I was looking for the one on the bottom of this:

Where it breaks up LSAT with GPA in a matrix. They're the only T14 that releases info that's this detailed.

e.g. 3.5-3.74, 170-174 only 10 of 224 are admitted.
