Splitter prospects?

Just got my Decemmber LSAT back I got a 172. My goal is Chicago but I'm not sure how realistic that is with my 3.3 GPA. Thoughts? I'm a hard science major and a first gen college student if that helps at all.

Are you applying this year? Chicago has at least historically had a pretty tangible advantage for early applicants so waiting a year might improve your odds. You are as close to certain to be waitlisted as possible though so not much you can do other than apply and hope they are hurting for above median LSATs come July or so. People with similar numbers have gotten in though, so don't lose hope.

A straight acceptance is very unlikely but not impossible. I'd probably go ahead and apply with the expectation that I'd likely end up riding the WL for a while.

No reason not to apply. Just know that you are probably going to be WLed at places that will accept you next year, so don't get desperate. There is no reason for you to end up in any worse situation than GULC with a solid scholarship (side note: don't go to GULC). Even if you literally have to live at home and eat cheetos for a year, the difference between going to a great school, which your LSAT will get you into if you apply early, and settling for a non-T14 option is likely well into the six figures in terms of discounted value.
