GPA versus School

Does anyone know how much schools take the school you graduate from into account when considering your GPA?
For example, how would they view a 3.2 GPA from Stanford to a 3.8 GPA from a community college.
(Do you know this from experience, from a creditable source, or just a hunch?)

Evidence from
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/, and from the experience of basically everyone here who's gone through the law school application process. The very tip-top schools may provide some slight boost, but if you want to start comparing different schools, then you have to start comparing different majors (how does a 3.2 in engineering compare to a 3.9 in sociology?), and it all becomes mayhem and chaos. So schools don't bother. Besides, when they report GPAs to USNWR, they're all weighted the same, regardless of where they come from. So schools have little incentive to take the graduating school into account.

I don't even know why a school like Harvard would get a "bump" anyway. They're already getting a bump:

The LSAT GPA report the schools get show the average GPAs from that school for applicants. So theoretically the adcoms can see how you fit versus others from your school.
There seems to be hardly any impact from different majors, and that would matter more than undergrad institution to how hard a time you had it in UG.
That said, USNews doesn't care, so outside of the very few schools who can afford to not care either it probably is a very minimal impact.

3.2 from Stanford is definitely equal to a 3.8 from a community college. I know this from experience, a credible source,
and a hunch.
