Healthcare treatment to defending Doctors- Career change

Hi all, I"m currently a physician that recently recieved MD degree. I love my job; however, I would like to pursue a degree in law to defend physicians and or hospitals.
Will having knowledge of medicine help in landing a job in this field? Is having this knowledge make me a better candidate for healthcare law? I know lawyers that defend physicians/hospitals...but I would think a ENT physician with a law degree could defend other ENT doctors better... True or not? Doeshaving knowledge in a particular specialized field help in the law world? Thanks!

Yes to all. But if you love your job you really shouldn't switch careers to become a lawyer, which you may or may not love.

If you are a doctor, you'd probably be better off just starting a nonprofit organization or some such thing instead of quitting medicine to go into law. Being a doctor may be a unique soft, but I doubt it would help you as a lawyer.

Yeah, what? You just got your MD. Are you in residency? You want to finish residency and then go to law school?
I am confuse. Either way, I don't think this is a great idea.

Also, not to be a total dick, but not having extraordinary English skills is much less of a problem in the medical profession than law--especially once you've completed med school.

Maybe, maybe not.
Some people with specialized knowledge take it for granted, thus making it harder to present information to a jury.
But, as others have said, don't leave a career you love for one you might not love.

This sounds like an extraordinarily bad idea.

Become an expert witness down the line. It's probably pretty lucrative.

No way this is serious. No.

Being a doctor is a noble profession, I'd be doing medicine if I were more mathematically inclined (there was no way I'd pass UG science courses).
If you love your job, man, keep it.

Honestly, I don't think it's a bad idea to have your JD and MD--although it may be a bit excessive. Actually in college, I took a course called Law and Medicine. And, my professor had an MD, specializing in neurology, and a JD. He didn't necessarily practice law. But, it gave him that edge in academia and legal matters as a MD.
Just my two cents.

I hope OP managed to check back for your uncanny wisdom, 5 months later.
