In law school, as in life, if you have two options for when a deadline might be, always err on the side of caution.

Missing an ED deadline might be a blessing in disguise

I'd imagine that is the deadline for the application being complete.

Don't necessarily take my advice, but your window for meeting an online submission deadline stated in this fashion usually (always) includes the entirety of the deadline day, unless stated otherwise (by close of business, etc.).

But what are your numbers? ED might be a really bad idea for you.

Well if you really want Penn and are ok with sticker, seems like a sound ED. Good luck!

When would you say an ED is a bad idea? When your numbers are borderline?

No, I think it's best when numbers are borderline (but the applicant must be at or above one of the medians -- preferably the LSAT median). A 3.3/170 isn't getting big scholarship money at any T14 anyway, so an ED app to UVA or Penn is fine if the applicant is willing to accept the risk and burden of sticker debt for the job prospects. But it's tragic when the 3.8/170 applies ED and forfeits tens of thousands of dollars at the ED school, and up to as much as $120K at other T14s.
