just disclose everything, you should be fine.

It certainly will not help, but it is not the end of the world. The 3.6 is the most concerning thing in your post.

No, it doesn't matter. Schools only really care if a) there's a strong pattern of recklessness, especially if they feel like you are trying to make excuses or pass the blame, or b) if they're concerned that you might have trouble being admitted to the bar. Your son doesn't appear to qualify for either of these, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

The citation won't have any impact. But he does need to be more careful now. Admissions officers might view additional drinking offenses as suggesting a pattern of problems with alcohol, which is where things get dicey.

This. A 3.7 with an alcohol citation has better odds than a 3.6 without one, all else being equal.

I found the helicopter parenting more concerning.

at 19 he has at least 2 more years of school left, plenty of time to raise the gap

Stuff like this won't matter at all, unless it becomes a pattern. Think about it: if every college student who got cited for possession of alcohol was barred from the legal profession...well, that'd be a LOT of people.

Just make sure that he's better than this at taking responsibility for his actions in his disclosures.

There's no need to be rude here. This is the parent of a teenager; there's nothing wrong with being concerned about your child.

I'd say if he's bold enough to post this kind of thing on the internet "for his son," then he's probably man enough to hear a few off-the-cuff opinions on it.

For the record, as long as "his son" is contrite and takes ownership of what he did and shows how it's not a pattern of consistent misbehavior, it won't be a problem.

Wow thank you everyone. I really appreciate the advice you have all given me. It seems like if my son has the numbers that he will be fine regardless of the citation. At least, that's what I have gathered from your replies.

A: the "child" here is an adult, and should be figuring out law school on his own because mommy won't be there to hold his hand

B: welcome to TLS.
