Re: Toby Stock call
I had mine today. It was short and sweet. I got the usual questions... What is taking up your time, tell me about your research, tell me about this random thing from your resume, what kind of law, any questions?
edit update - I got in with my sub five minute TS1. I guess short isn't always bad.

oh wow, I thought all the TS1s were done for the batch and he was just doing TS2s. I guess not. I'm sure you're relieved to be done with the interview!

No kidding, it was a fully week from TS email until TS1. Hopefully my TS2 isn't that far behind everyone else's TS2

Re: Toby Stock call
Well, congrats on what sounds like a fairly successful TS1. It might be a little while before the TS2 because there was just recently a batch of them, but don't overly fret it. I'd bet you're golden.

Thanks Alex. I am not that confident yet, but I am hopeful.

Re: Toby Stock call
I'm a long-time lurker, but just recently opened an account.
Everyone seems to be paranoid about going complete before geting TS1. Just to calm some people's fears, my application was complete around October 30th. TS1 happened the first week of December, and TS2 the second week of December. So being complete first may not be the worst thing in the world.
I also have a question: A while back, maybe here or on LSD, people were talking about a facebook group for HLS 2011 and how it was hard to find. I can't find it. Does anyone know how to find it?

Re: Toby Stock call
my guess is that the closer you are to an average applicant and not an autoadmit, the more likely your call will call after being complete. It certainly seems like those with GREAT numbers get called asap...

Re: Toby Stock call
I was a 75th/25th percentile split with LSAT and GPA for Harvard, so I figured that balances out to about middle of the pack. They waited over a month to call me. If they don't call you right away, that only means you're not an autoadmit at Harvard, but don't you already know that when you apply? I'm just saying people shouldn't freak out if they go complete first.

Same boat as ecleticism, though maybe my boat is leaky.
Completed on the first possible day, no interview until end of December, still waiting in hopes for a second call.

Here are a 180, 3.92 and a 180, 3.84 who didn't get in for 3 months after their interview: --LinkRemoved--

That scares me. I was pretty firmly ok with thinking I would either know in two weeks I was in or know I was out. Ahh.

Re: Toby Stock call
how do you know you're complete at Harvard, is it an email? If I applied on 12/04/07 and still haven't heard anything other than the fact that they have my application and just recently got an email about a survey, so they do know I exist. Should I contact them asking the status of my application? Anyway, good luck to all with the phone calls.

I didn't go complete until the day of my interview (second week of Jan), and I applied very close to your date.

I don't know. We'll see.
I was nervous and stumbled through one question. And in hindsight, there are things I wish I'd mentioned but didn't.
What's up with the ts2? What is that? A second phone interview? What's the deal?

Re: Toby Stock call
TS2 is just "Hey, you're in!"
After my TS1 I felt the same way you did. I thought of things I should have said and didn't for every question. Since mine was less than five minutes long, I thought I had really messed up. The good news is, Toby doesn't know you forgot those things. You'll be fine. If your numbers predict you'll be in, I think it is still safe to assume you.

Okay. What if your numbers don't predict that you'll be in? *
Thanks for clearly defining ts2 for me. I was confroozed.
* That laugh smiley is just a tad creepier than I'd like it to be.

Ha, ok, if your numbers plus urm status predict it then . If you expected to get in in the first place, this shouldn't change things. You'll probably get a call next monday.

Has anyone else called him for an interview? It's good when you get someone laughing so hard they can't breathe, right?

Re: Toby Stock call
Can you get a call before your app is complete?
This call thing really boggles my mind.
I know I am going to be stuttering and there's gonna be unconfortable silences, and my responses to him will be short answers.
Yes, I know it's not like a serious interview but just a small chat kinda thing, but still.
Can you mess this phone interview and get rejected because of that? I know I don't sound like a psychopath or a murderer, but what if I make a mistake? Say something rude or inconsiderate accidentally?
Surely, they don't give acceptance to everyone they call, right?
